Tether Launches Omnichain Gold-Backed Token XAUt0 on TON Blockchain

Tether has introduced XAUt0, an omnichain version of its gold-backed token XAUt, through its unified liquidity network USDT0 and development partner Everdawn Labs. Built on LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard, XAUt0 enables seamless cross-chain transfers while providing on-chain access to physical Gold stored in Swiss vaults.

The first deployment will occur on The Open Network (TON), integrating with Telegram’s in-app Wallet. This MOVE brings tokenized gold to Telegram’s massive user base, enhancing liquidity and accessibility for retail and institutional participants alike.

Each XAUt0 token represents direct ownership of one troy ounce of London Good Delivery-standard gold, distinguishing it from synthetic instruments or ETFs. The omnichain functionality unlocks decentralized finance opportunities while maintaining the same backing as Tether’s 2020-launched XAUt.
